
About this qualification
The Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare is designed to prepare professionals for leadership roles within children’s residential care settings. This qualification empowers you to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people while shaping the future of residential childcare services. You’ll develop the confidence and ability to lead and manage a team effectively, oversee group living, ensure a positive environment for children and young people, support and safeguard young residents through best practice, implement policies and procedures that align with current regulations. Additionally, you can tailor your learning with optional modules suited to specific residential and respite care settings, ensuring you acquire specialised knowledge that aligns with your career aspirations.
Who is it for:
To undertake this qualification, you must already be working as a Deputy Manager or Manager in a residential childcare setting, or be in a role that allows you to take on similar leadership responsibilities.
Entry Requirements:
You must be at least 19 years old. It’s recommended to have a Level 3 qualification or higher in a related field to get started.
Qualification Structure:
You’ll need to achieve 57 credits from mandatory units and a minimum of 8 credits from optional units, totaling at least 65 credits.
Assessment Methods:
This qualification is assessed through a combination of practical and theoretical work, including coursework & written assignments, portfolio of evidence and practical demonstrations & observations
Progression Opportunities:
After successfully completing this qualification, you’ll be fully equipped to progress into senior leadership roles within residential childcare or move into further academic study. Potential career paths include: Registered Residential Childcare Manager, Deputy or Assistant Manager in a residential childcare setting, Deputy or Assistant Manager in other children’s social care settings (additional training may be required). You can also advance your studies by pursuing a degree in a related field, opening doors to even more career opportunities.
